Pau Victor reveals which player has ‘really surprised’ him at Barcelona

The Brazilian defender has been impressed by the performances of one of the club’s youngsters

Barcelona defender Pau Victor has revealed that he has been ‘really surprised’ by the performances of Alejandro Balde this season.

The 18-year-old left-back has broken into the Barcelona first team this season and has made a number of impressive performances.

Victor, who joined Barcelona from Corinthians in the summer, has been impressed by Balde’s maturity and composure on the pitch.

"I've been really surprised by Balde," Victor told the club's website.

"He's a very young player, but he plays with a lot of maturity and composure. He's also very good technically and has a great understanding of the game."

Balde has made 10 appearances for Barcelona this season, and has scored one goal and provided two assists.

He has also been capped by Spain at youth level.

Victor believes that Balde has a bright future at Barcelona.

"I think he has the potential to be a great player," Victor said.

"He's still young, but he's already showing a lot of quality. I'm sure he'll go on to have a great career at Barcelona."

Balde's performances have also caught the attention of Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez.

"Balde is a very promising player," Xavi said.

"He's still young, but he's already showing a lot of quality. He's a very good defender and he's also very good going forward."

Xavi believes that Balde has the potential to be a regular starter for Barcelona in the future.

"I think he has the potential to be a great player," Xavi said.

"He's still young, but he's already showing a lot of quality. I'm sure he'll go on to have a great career at Barcelona."
